Use of Technology in Education (SNAPSHOT!)

A Snapshot Of How Technology Is Used In Education
There is little question that technology has made a lasting change to the world of education. But what that change actually is remains to be seen. Is the legacy of technology’s impact on education that of MOOCs, iPads, and 1:1 classrooms? I hope not. I think there’s a lot more to come and this infographic helps bolster my case. It details a lot of useful factoids regarding how technology is used in education by both teachers and students.
For example, technology has had a profound change on how students actually study, how they communicate with the school administration, and really how they go about their day-to-day lives. This visualization sheds some light on how important students rank their school website, how many professors have a social media account (80%), and how many teachers actually use social media during class. While it doesn’t go into a ton of detail, this is a great snapshot in time of where we’re currently at in terms of education technology.
Personally, I like the trends I’m seeing but know that education technology integration is a long-term process where we all will slowly adapt the best pieces of technology and trends into our everyday classroom experience. Whatever form that takes is still very much up in the air.
