Historical Henry Ford Retrospective (TONIGHT! PBS Ch#56 9:00PM)

The life of Henry Ford – Tonight on Detroit Public Television/Ch. 56 at 9pm

PBS’s American Experience profiles the pioneer of the American car
Please join us tonight for an important look at one of most important figures in Detroit’s history.

An absorbing life story of a farm boy who rose from obscurity to become the most influential American innovator of the 20th century, Henry Ford offers an incisive look at the birth of the American auto industry with its long history of struggles, as well as alliances, between labor and management. The film also presents an honest look at his often harsh and controlling personality and a thought-provoking reminder of how Ford's automobile and the assembly line for building it forever changed the way we work, where we live, and our ideas about individuality, freedom, and possibility.

If you didn’t see the front page of Sunday’s Detroit Free Press, there was an excellent article on this production by Julie Hinds.

  1. What a little bit of Tinkering can do! (If it stayed in the spirit, maybe it would have helped them to diversify when the Model T met some competition, and so on!) But a wonderful treatment of this grand story, love American Experience!
