A case study of the HP Catalyst Initiative has just been published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the organization most known among educators for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) reports that compare education systems around the world.

This newly released case study examines the emerging STEMx education innovations and the impact of international collaboration among the educators participating in the first two years of the HP Catalyst Initiative. The case study, written for education leaders and policy makers, highlights … innovative technology-supported pedagogic models in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, explores what to expect from collaboration in a designed network, and, thereafter, sketches lessons for promoting educational innovation through collaboration.”

The Executive Summary (if not the whole report) is a great read for education leaders who want to extend their "visionary leadership" in STEMx education.

The report is available free for download at www.bit.ly/OECDcatalyst.

Jim Vanides is currently a Program Manager in Philanthropy for Hewlett-Packard, responsible for worldwide higher education grant initiatives (www.hp.com/go/hied-blog). He also teaches an online course offered through Montana State University for elementary teachers on the Science of Sound (www.scienceteacher.org).
