Student assessment is a high priority for school districts as they transition to the Common Core State Standards. But this is not the first time that California has embraced an effort to use more authentic means to assess student learning.
Drawing on the recently published brief Learning from the Past: Exploring California’s CLAS Experience to Inform Assessment of the Common Core, the webinar will include key lessons learned, and feature work currently taking place in California Office to Reform Education (CORE) participating districts to develop and pilot classroom-level assessment modules. Reflections on the experience of developing and using the assessment modules will be shared by a teacher from a CORE school.
Presenters:
  • Joel Knudson, Deputy Director; California Collaborative on District Reform, American Institutes for Research
  • Ben Sanders, Director of Standards, Instruction, and Assessment; California Office to Reform Education (CORE)
